For movies, 2014 was a great year. There were so many films released that are Oscar-worthy, including the epic blockbusters Guardian of The Galaxy, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, and Interstellar. Not to mention great comedy movies like 22 Jump Street and the much talked about romance film, The Fault in Our Stars.

Like last year, 2015 is shaping up to be full of fantastic films. Here are the movies we are most looking forward to:

 15. Minions

Who doesn’t love the minions? Those little yellow creatures from the famous animated movie Despicable Me have caught the attention of many people, from little kids to adults. In July, they’ve finally got the chance to star in their own movie.

14. Terminator Genisys

The Terminator saga has been around for about 20 years now and their latest installment, Terminator Genisys, is following up on John Connor (portrayed by Jason Clarke) sends Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney) on a mission back in time, in order to win the war against the Skynet’s A.I machines who wants to eliminate the humanity.

13. The Walk

The Walk is based on a true story of Phillipe Petit, a French artist who attempted to cross the Twin Towers of the World Trade Centre in 1974 using only a wire. The audience can follow the adventure of Mr. Petit (played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt) in October. This movie is also available in IMAX or IMAX 3D.

12. Pan

The legendary story of Peter Pan and Neverland will never get old. After seeing the trailer, this re-make of the story is really promising and of course, suitable for both younger and older audience. The kids will enjoy the magical ride in CGI and the adults can reminisce the old days with the familiar tale.

11. Jupiter Ascending

The Wachowski brothers (The Matrix Trilogy) have returned to the science fiction genre with Jupiter Ascending, a story about a woman being targeted by the Queen of the Universe. We still don’t know why is she being hunted, but soon we will. In February, the mystery will be answered.

Starring: Channing Tatum, Mila Kunis, Eddie Redmayne.


 10. Insurgent

The next chapter of the Divergent trilogy, Insurgent, follows up on Tris (Shailene Woodley) and her adventure to save her society from being torn apart while dealing with her ‘dark side’. Will it be as successful as the first instalment? We will see in March.

9. The Hunger Games Mockingjay: Part Two


This will be the last installment of the Hunger Games series that has been in theatres since 2012. This movie has gained hype from the young adult generation and, as the last part of the book trilogy, will bring so much excitement for fans and average moviegoers alike. This final film will answer the most frequently asked question: will Katniss defeat the Capitol?

Starring: Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson.


8. 50 Shades of Grey

This movie is based on the bestselling novel of the same name. The film follows the story about a literature student, Anastasia Steele, who goes to interview a handsome young billionaire named Christian Grey. The two quickly realise that they want each other, but Christian Grey has a very unique, singular taste in a relationship. See the unusual love story of Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey on February.

 7. Furious 7

This movie was supposed to come out in summer 2014, but Universal Pictures put it on hold because of the sudden passing of Paul Walker in November 2013. Now this movie will be our chance to see Walker on the big screen for the very last time. The story follows up on Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham), who wants to get revenge on Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) for his brother’s death.

 6. Inside Out

Disney and Pixar will never run out of ideas to keep entertaining us. This anticipated animated movie will tell us the story about how emotions (joy, sadness, anger, disgust, and fear) are being controlled. Parents, be prepared to take your kids to see this one in June.

Starring: Amy Poehler, Bill Hader, Diane Lane, Mindy Kaling.


5. Ant-Man

This film was delayed after many production issues and in-fighting but Marvel Studios have finally announced that it will be released in July. Follow the story of Hank Pym – a scientist who came up with a suit that has the ability to shrink a human to a size of an ant, and con-man Scott Lang, who wears the suit. Together they pull off a heist in order to save the world.

Starring: Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Douglas.


4. Jurassic World

‘The park is open’ the tagline says. This movie will take us back to the old days of Jurassic Park, while providing us a fresh, new story. It is up to Owen (Chris Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas-Howard) to save the visitors after a genetically engineered dinosaur gets loose.

Starring: Chris Pratt, Ty Simpkins, Bryce Dallas-Howard, Vincent D’Onofrio.


3. Spectre


James Bond is back! Another legendary tale of this famous British agent is being told once again in November. Mr. Bond (Daniel Craig) has to uncover the secret behind an organisation called Spectre.

Starring: Daniel Craig, Christoph Waltz, Ralph Fiennes, Monica Bellucci.


2. Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens

The well-known Star Wars saga will release its new project in December and the story starts around 30 years after Star Wars Episode VI – Return of the Jedi in 1983. Once again the audience can watch beloved characters such as R2D2 and witness the lightsabre in action again. Can’t wait for this movie to come out? You’ve got company here!

1. The Avengers: Age of Ultron

The next chapter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is finally here. The movie will tell the story of Tony Stark trying to jumpstart a peacekeeping program with an artificial intelligence named Ultron.  The computer program then decides humans need to be eradicated, and it’s up to the Avengers to save humanity once again.
