If you weren’t quick enough to catch the full trailer for Marvel Comics‘ much-hyped Ryan Reynolds antihero film Deadpool when it leaked during Comic Con last month, here it is in all its graphic glory and it does not disappoint.
After months of promising an R-rated, faithful adaptation of beloved comic book character, Reynolds seems to be delivering.
Violence? Check. Profanity? Check. Exceptionally dark humor? Double-check. And don’t forget the meta commentary; “[…] just don’t make the super suit green — or animated!” (referring to Reynolds’ previous stint as The Green Lantern).
The full-length trailer comes off the back of yesterday’s teaser trailer, featuring Deadpool gloriously breaking the fourth wall.
Reynolds is fulfilling a decade-long dream by finally getting to play Deadpool on his own terms. The actor appeared as a sanitized version of the character in 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
Deadpool also stars Morena Baccarin as Copycat, Gina Carano as Angel Dust, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, T.J. Miller as Weasel and Ed Skrein as Ajax. The film hits theaters February 12, 2016.
