“Yesterday a wizard entered New York with a case. A case full of magical creatures…”
Warners Bros has unveiled the very first “announcement” teaser trailer for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, the spin-off continuation of the Harry Potter franchise set for release on Nov. 18, 2016.
It’s been four years since audiences were able to visit the magical world of Harry Potter, but this short teaser is here to remind fans that magic and the impossible are all around us. Did anyone else tear up when they heard ‘Hedwig’s Theme’? (SAME)
Eddie Redmayne (The Theory of Everything) stars in the central role of wizarding world “magizoologist” Newt Scamander, under the direction of David Yates, who helmed the last four Harry Potter blockbusters.
The film marks the screenwriting debut of author J.K. Rowling, which is so very exciting (and promising!)
Right now plot details are still fuzzy; here we briefly see Scamander hunting down magical creatures that appear to have escaped from a suitcase, but that’s about all we know at this point. Nevertheless, the teaser is a hopeful mix of mystery and familiarity—enough to satisfy old Potter fans while also creating new ones.
The cast includes Katherine Waterston, Ezra Miller, Colin Farrell, Ron Perlman, Jon Voight and Samantha Morton.
A full length trailer should hit the web soon! We can’t wait.
