Marvel has released the official synopsis and confirmed the cast list for 2016’s Captain America Civil War.

In a statement released today on their website, Captain America: Civil War will pick up where Avengers: Age of Ultron finished.

“Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain.”

The film, led by directors Joe and Anthony Russo (Captain America: The Winter Soldier), will have one of the biggest all-star casts Marvel and possibly the world has ever seen.

The film will have Chris Evans returning as Captain America, Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man, Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Falcon, Paul Bettany as the Vision, Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton/Hawkeye, Don Cheadle as James Rhodes/War Machine, Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, Paul Rudd as Scott Lang/Ant Man, Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa/Black Panther, Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter/Agent 13, Frank Grillo as villain Brock Rumlow/Crossbones, William Hurt reprising his role from 2008’s The Incediable Hulk as General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross.

Well that was a mouthful.

Daniel Brühl and Martin Freeman have also been cast but their roles have yet to be announced. Fans have expressed disappointment that the character of Spider-Man was not included on that list but we expect that news to be announced when casting is.

If it was branded as the next Avengers film, I’m sure I would feel more excited than anxious over this.  With such a big cast, how do you think they are going to make sure that the film is still, essentially, a Captain America film?
