Let the speculation begin! Disney has just debuted the first official full-length trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and it is EXCITING.
What we see is still light on plot, but big on scenery and explosive action. Along with the poster released this weekend, the trailer provides more hints that Rey (the Leia-looking character played by Daisy Ridley) could be the movie’s main heroine.
We also get some more details about the First Order, which is the new incarnation of the Empire from the original series, as well as a better look at new antagonist Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) — this time very, very clearly talking to the salvaged helmet of Darth Vader (“I will finish what you started”).
While there’s still no sign of Luke Skywalker (aside from the previously-seen shot of “someone” reaching out to R2-D2), we did get a few new lines from Han Solo — and a brief Han/Leia moment to tug at our heartstrings.
Along with the trailer, tickets for the film are on sale now at your local cinema, if you can pull yourself away from the video long enough to buy them.
The last teaser trailer debuted five months ago during the Star Wars Celebration, while the very first teaser was about five months before that in late November. Both are embedded below to watch again on repeat (you know, after your 20th viewing of this one).
J. J. Abrams‘ Star Wars: The Force Awakens will hit theaters December 18th.
