One of my earliest childhood memories is listening to ‘I’m on Fire’ by Bruce Springsteen and it has only gotten better with age.

Only recently did I realise how many great artists have loved this song as well.

Here is a list of just some of them – enjoy!

Head Like a Hole (HLAH) – 1997

One of the first notable covers was New Zealand band Head Like a Hole doing the song live in Wellington – see the rooftop video above. They start off relatively close to the original and then go a little more hard rock.

Tori Amos – 1996

Such an emotion-filled version.

Johnny Cash – 2000

The man in black himself did this song on Bruce’s tribute album Badlands – a Tribute to Bruce Springsteen’s Nebraska.

Kenny Chesney – 2004

A very close-to-the-original country version.

The Motorettes – 2006

Wow, the Motorettes turn this ballad into a crazy rock song!

John Mayer – 2009

John Mayer did a great version for his Battle Studies album.

Sara Bareilles – 2009

Sarah is a huge Bruce fan, so it was no surprise when she did it live in 2009.

Sophie Milman – 2009

A gorgeous jazz take on the song.

Whitehorse – 2011

Great duet version here.

Lindi Ortega – 2011

A sassy version with a strong beat.

Gabrielle Aplin – 2013

English songstress Gabrielle also covered it in 2013.

Low – 2014

US band Low did a fantastic darker version of the song.
