The time has come! Marvel has released the first official images from its second upcoming series, Jessica Jones, set to premiere on November 20 on Netflix.
After a tragic ending to her short-lived Super Hero stint, Jessica Jones is rebuilding her personal life and career as a detective by opening up her own agency, Alias Investigations in New York. The series is a suspenseful, edgy look into the life of Jessica Jones, one of the most popular new Marvel characters of the last decade, as she faces demons from within and without. The drama will premiere with thirteen one-hour episodes.
Krysten Ritter (who plays the titular character) is joined by an amazing cast including David Tennant (as villain Zebediah Kilgrave), Mike Colter (as Luke Cage, who will be getting his own series next year) and Rachael Taylor (as Trish Walker). Also appearing throughout the series are Carrie-Anne Moss, Eka Darville, Erin Moriarty, and Wil Traval, among others.
The series is Executive Produced by showrunner Melissa Rosenberg (Twilight, Dexter) and Liz Friedman (Elementary), along with Jeph Loeb (Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Smallville, Heroes), who also serves as Marvel’s Head of Television.
Marvel’s Jessica Jones will be the second of four collaborations between Marvel Studios and Netflix. The others include Marvel’s Daredevil, which launched April 10th and returns for a second season next year, as well as Marvel’s Luke Cage and Marvel’s Iron Fist.
Along with these five new photos, a teaser trailer was dropped last week which features plenty of clues and Easter eggs throughout for diehard fans to appreciate.
The end of the trailer tells us that we’re definitely still in Hell’s Kitchen, the same little corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe where Daredevil takes place.
Check out the sneak peaks below. Will Jessica Jones be as good as Marvel’s Daredevil, or better? Let us know what you think about this upcoming Netflix original series!
