Sherlock‘s Victorian-era special has been on the horizon for a few months now, and we finally have a trailer!

As previously reported, Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman’s new Sherlock special is a one-off story taking place in Victorian London.

The clip features Sherlock in a classic Deerstalker hat and Watson sporting a thoroughly fantastic twirled moustache among a series of quick clips.

It also seems that the special will feature plenty of the wit and self-awareness that the series is known for: There’s a gag about Holmes’ famous hat, and Watson at one point strikes a match and says, “Little use us standing here in the dark. After all, this is the 19th century.”

Plot details for the special have not yet been disclosed, so we don’t know if it will be based on a classic story by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, or if it’s a new adventure entirely for our favourite sleuths. Either way, this will make for a wonderful 2016 indeed.

A premiere date has yet to be announced.

Need more? The first clip premiered at San Diego Comic-Con earlier this year – watch it here!
