After a series of brilliant teases, Marvel and Netflix have finally released the full-length trailer for Jessica Jones.
The trailer takes us down into the dark streets of Hell’s Kitchen where we get our first proper look at Jones (Krysten Ritter), a wounded former superhero working to piece her life back together.
“A big part of the job is looking for the worst in people,” Jones says in a voiceover. “Turns out, I excel at that.” We then get a glimpse of what she can do (punch through walls, stop slow moving cars, high-flying leaps)
We also see how damaged Jones is at the hands of a mind-controlling villain from her past (a man she refers to as Killgrave — played by David Tennant), who Marvel have done a great job at building up mystery around, only adding to the anticipation.
There’s blood, booze, sex, fire, gunshots, broken glass — it’s all pretty chilling. And there’s Jones’ final line, which seals the deal:
“God didn’t do this, the devil did. And I’m going to find him.”
The first episode was premiered at New York Comic Con earlier this month, and, judging from the performances, the atmosphere, and the writing, the series has every chance to be as dark and excellent as Daredevil.
The series also stars Mike Colter, Carrie-Anne Moss, Rachael Taylor and Wil Traval, and is executive produced by Melissa Rosenberg.
Jessica Jones premieres on Netflix on November 20th.
